Attorney to Serve as 64th President of the Virginia State
Bar
Richmond, VA --- June 14, 2002 --- Bernard
Joseph DiMuro, founding partner of DiMuro, Ginsberg & Mook,
P.C. in Alexandria will be installed today as the 64th President
of the Virginia State Bar at the bar's annual meeting in Virginia
Beach. He will lead the 30,000 member organization during the
2002-2003 bar year. He succeeds Michael A. Glasser, a managing
partner in the Norfolk law firm of Glasser & Glasser P.L.C.
Ben DiMuro has been active in bar service since 1985, when he
joined and later chaired the 8th District Disciplinary Committee.
He is currently serving a second term on the State Bar's Executive
Committee, and has been a member of the State Bar's Council
since 1991. DiMuro also chairs the Task Force on Public Access
to the Disciplinary System, and is a member of the Task Force
on Corporate Counsel. He has served as a member of the Virginia
Model Rules Committee, Lawyers Serving as Fiduciaries Committee,
Publications/Public Information Committee and as a faculty member
of the Virginia State Bar's Course on Professionalism.
A Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation and the American Bar
Association, DiMuro has been a member of the Board of Governors
of the Virginia Trial lawyers Association since 1997. He is
admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, numerous federal courts
and has tried over 150 cases in his career.
In private practice, Ben DiMuro represents corporate clients
in complex civil litigation, which includes business torts,
corporate law, employment law, product liability and professional
liability. He is also Founder and President of The Civil Workplace,
a consulting firm that advises employers on complex federal,
state and local employment laws. A renowned expert on Professional
Responsibility and Ethics, DiMuro is qualified as an Expert
Witness on matters related to business torts, employment and
labor.
Ben DiMuro is a graduate of Northwestern University, and earned
his Juris Doctorate degree from the George Washington University
National Law Center. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia,
Illinois and the District of Columbia.
About the Virginia State Bar
The Virginia State Bar was created in 1938 by the General Assembly
to regulate the legal profession in Virginia. It is an administrative
agency of the Supreme Court of Virginia, governed by its council
and executive committee. Members are elected or appointed from
every judicial circuit in the Commonwealth.
