Business Torts

Conspiracy

Under the law of Virginia, it is illegal for two or more persons to unite for the purpose of causing injury to another in his reputation, trade, business or profession. This law is a powerful tool in preventing former employees and /or competitors from working in concert to damage a company's standing in the market by, among other things, stealing trade secrets, violating restrictive covenants or improperly soliciting customers. Under Virginia statute, violations are punishable by an award of treble damages and attorneys fees.

Our attorneys are experienced in counseling our clients on identifying and pursuing co-conspirators in actions that have injured their companies or businesses. We also defend our clients should they be charged with conspiracy to commit intentional business torts.
