John M. Tran

JOHN M. TRAN is a partner in the firm of DiMuroGinsberg, P.C.  The diversity of his 25-year career as an experienced trial lawyer is reflective of trial dockets found in state and federal courts throughout the country.  As a former state and federal prosecutor in Alexandria, he learned how to present cases efficiently and effectively.  After returning to private practice, his practice broadened to include the representation of civil and business litigants in matters ranging from contract disputes to complex commercial litigation, family law actions and multi-jurisdictional proceedings.  Mr. Tran’s clients—including international companies, small businesses, and individuals—benefit from the diversity and depth of his experience in complex litigation cases.

• Lead counsel, defense of CEO named as defendant in federal securities lawsuit brought in federal court, subject of interest in bankruptcy court, appearance before the SEC and indicted in the Eastern District of New York.
• Lead counsel in successful dissolution of cases involving partnership and investment disputes between principals and investors.
• Lead counsel in federal fraud claims indicted in the Virginia federal courts, representation included pre-indictment resolution of claims.
• Co-counsel in complex civil cases involving contract claims, tortious interference, business conspiracy and trade secrets claims.
• Lead counsel in defense of employment claims and selected counsel by D&O insurance carriers.
• Experienced local counsel in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (“Rocket Docket”) monitoring effective defense of New York client and facilitating trial with out of state co-counsel.
• Outside corporate counsel for international and worldwide wine exporter.
• Outside corporate counsel for various small to medium businesses, including franchise holders.
• Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Alexandria and instrumental in the creation of the City's Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force.
